Community Guidelines
Welcome to the Orddu community!
Our community forum is a place for homeowners, renters and anyone interested in looking after their home to share ideas, ask questions, solve problems and learn from one another.
We want the community to be useful, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. These guidelines help us keep it that way.
1. Be respectful
Treat other members with respect, even when you disagree.
Be polite and constructive.
Debate ideas, not people.
Don't insult, threaten, harass or deliberately provoke other members.
Avoid personal attacks, discrimination or hateful language.
Remember that everyone has different levels of knowledge and experience.
Healthy disagreement is welcome. Personal abuse isn't.
2. Keep discussions constructive
The best communities are built around people helping one another.
When asking a question, provide enough information for others to understand what you're dealing with. When giving advice, try to explain your reasoning and be helpful rather than dismissive.
If someone makes a mistake, help them where you can rather than making them feel unwelcome for asking.
3. No spam or excessive promotion
Please don't use the community primarily to promote a business, product, service, website or social media account.
This includes:
Unsolicited advertising
Repeated promotional posts or comments
Referral and affiliate links
Promotional discount codes
Posting links purely to drive traffic
Sending unsolicited promotional messages to other members
Relevant recommendations are welcome when they genuinely help answer someone's question. However, please disclose any commercial relationship or affiliate connection where relevant.
4. Keep content relevant
Please keep discussions broadly related to homes, homeownership, renting, maintenance, cleaning, organisation, renovations, energy, household finances, safety and related topics.
Off-topic conversations may be removed if they become disruptive or overwhelm the community.
5. Don't share personal or sensitive information
For your own safety and privacy, don't post information such as:
Your home address
Phone number
Email address
Financial or banking information
Passwords or login details
Insurance policy numbers
Documents containing personal information
Information that could identify or compromise another person
6. Respect copyright and other people's work
Only share content that you have permission to share.
Don't upload or reproduce copyrighted material, photographs, articles or other content belonging to someone else without the appropriate permission or rights.
Where appropriate, credit the original creator.
7. No illegal or harmful content
Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity, fraud, violence, abuse, hacking, malware or other harmful activity is not permitted.
Content that could put other members at significant risk may also be removed.
8. Give responsible advice
Home improvement and maintenance can involve real risks.
If you're giving advice about electrical work, gas, structural issues, asbestos, major building work or other potentially dangerous activities, encourage people to use an appropriately qualified professional where necessary.
Don't present personal experience as guaranteed professional advice.
Similarly, members should use their own judgement when following advice shared by others.
9. No impersonation or misleading behaviour
Don't pretend to be another person, business or organisation.
Don't deliberately misrepresent your experience, qualifications or relationship with a company or product.
If you have a commercial interest in something you're recommending, be transparent about it.
10. Moderation
We want the Orddu community to remain a safe, respectful and useful place for everyone.
If a member does not follow these Community Guidelines, we may take action to protect the community. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the behaviour, this may include removing posts or comments, restricting access to certain community features, or banning the member from using the community forum.
Serious breaches may result in an immediate ban without prior warning.
A ban from the community forum means the member will no longer be permitted to access or participate in the community feature. This does not necessarily affect access to other Orddu features or services unless the circumstances require further action under our Terms of Use.
We may also remove content that does not directly breach a specific guideline but that we reasonably believe is harmful, disruptive or inappropriate for the community.
Our moderation decisions are made to protect the wider community and maintain a positive environment for everyone.
11. Gambling and betting
The Orddu community is intended to be suitable for users aged 13 and over.
For this reason, gambling and betting-related content is not permitted within the community. This includes, but is not limited to:
Discussions promoting or encouraging gambling or betting
Gambling tips, strategies or recommendations
Links to gambling or betting websites
Gambling promotions, offers, bonuses or referral codes
Requests for or sharing of betting advice
Content intended to facilitate access to gambling services
Any gambling or betting-related content may be removed without notice, and repeated or serious breaches may result in the member being banned from using the community forum.
12. Report concerns
If you come across something that you believe breaches these guidelines, please report it to us rather than engaging in an argument.
When reporting something, providing a short explanation of the issue helps us review it appropriately.
13. A few simple principles
Above all, please remember:
Be helpful. Be respectful. Be honest. Be sensible.
We're building a community where people can ask questions without feeling judged, share their experiences and help each other make their homes easier to manage.
Thanks for being part of the Orddu community.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time as the community develops. Any significant changes will be communicated through the community where appropriate.
